BCAP's annual fundraiser, Local Legends Bubbly Brunch will be on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Boulder Jewish Community Center. We invite you to gather your friends to enjoy each other’s company, tasty beverages, and a delicious buffet brunch, catered by Savory Cuisines. The uproarious Mrs. Eda Bagel will emcee the fun as we celebrate this year’s Local Legend, Ellen Tucker!

Ellen Tucker, LCSW, Therapist and Grants Manager at Boulder Community Health - Beacon Center for Infectious Diseases, is being honored for her significant impact on HIV Services.

Ellen Tucker’s initial experience working with people with HIV started in graduate school at the University of Michigan where she worked on an HIV mobile testing and services van in Detroit, Michigan. After completing her Master of Social Work degree, she began working in mental health and hospital settings before starting the mental health program for people living with HIV at Boulder Community Health’s Beacon Center for Infectious Diseases. As a therapist and grants manager, Ellen runs the mental health program along with writing grants, providing case management, and assisting with PrEP navigation at the Beacon Center.

Ellen uses her background in social work to provide equitable, trauma-informed services to people living with HIV and people at risk of acquiring HIV, while continuing to advocate for funding and increased services. She believes that mental health, prevention, and treatment are at the forefront of HIV work, yet we cannot forget the basics in the hierarchy of needs: shelter, food, and safety. Ellen says she feels privileged to have worked for the past 15 years with people living with HIV, people at risk of acquiring HIV, and the dedicated staff who serve them. Ellen’s close teamwork with BCAP’s HIV Services staff has been key to successful service provision across the HIV Care Continuum in the Boulder region.

The event will include a Live Auction and Paddle Raise to secure much-needed funds to serve people living with HIV and people at risk of acquiring HIV and hepatitis C.

We look forward to seeing you on November 5!
